Unmasking Tobacco Industries: Protecting Children to Secure Their Future
On World No Tobacco Day 2025, the International Network of Health Promotion Foundations (INHPF) issues a joint statement calling for bold, coordinated action to protect children and adolescents from the evolving threats of tobacco and nicotine products.
We join the World Health Organization and global partners in unmasking industry tactics that package addiction behind sleek designs, sweet flavours, and youth-driven branding. As youth vaping rates continue to rise, INHPF urges stronger cross-sector policies and community action to safeguard future generations.
Key Messages
- 37 million youth aged 13–15 currently use tobacco products worldwide
- In some regions, e-cigarette use among adolescents exceeds adult use
- The appeal is designed. The harm is real

- Ban vapes completely – and close legal loopholes
- Enforce a total ad ban – especially across youth-targeted digital platforms
- Implement WHO FCTC Article 5.3 – to protect policies from industry interference
