Healthy Eating Challenges and NCD Prevention Across Asia-Pacific

Unhealthy diets remain one of the biggest drivers of noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), obesity, and food insecurity. Across Asia-Pacific, communities face barriers such as changing lifestyles, limited food literacy, and unequal access to nutritious food. INHPF members are responding with evidence-based, people-centered strategies that make healthy eating more accessible for all.

Innovative Nutrition Programs by Health Promotion Foundations

The Healthy Eating Report Card 2025 captures the diversity of approaches taken by INHPF’s Full Members. Together, these initiatives show how Health Promotion Foundations turn policy into action to improve lives.

Key Highlights from INHPF Members

Korea Health Promotion Institute (KHEPI), South Korea: NutriPlus Program supported 61,000+ mothers and children, reducing anemia and improving nutrition outcomes.

Health Promotion Administration (HPA), Taiwan: Community nutrition services reached 60,000+ older adults, including elder-friendly diets and tailored support.

Thai Health Promotion Foundation (ThaiHealth), Thailand : Over 1,300 food products certified with the Healthier Choice Logo, giving consumers healthier options.

Preventive Health SA, Australia:

  • Introduced a new policy restricting unhealthy food advertising on government transit assets.
  • Led a community-driven food security project engaging 600+ voices to co-design long-term solutions.

Health and Wellbeing Queensland (HWQld), Australia:

  • Making Healthy Happen 2032—a cross-government strategy building healthier food environments and school programs.
  • Gather + Grow—a remote food security strategy co-designed with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, supporting local food production and Healthy Stores initiatives.

Western Australian Health Promotion Foundation (Healthway), Australia: The Crunch&Sip® program is now embedded in over half of primary schools, helping children build daily healthy habits.
